The United States has a large number of prestigious internationally-recognized colleges and universities that attract over 100,000 international student visa applications annually.
Our firm has represented Ivy League universities and has assisted hundreds of International Students obtain "F-1", study visas for the United States.
Options for students also include "M-1" Vocational student visas and "J-1" Exchange Visitor visas. Note that J-1 Exchange Visitors often have a home residence requirement and must return to home country for up to 2 years once the exchange program is completed.
Where offered, we also assist educational institutions and International Students to apply for "Optional Practical Training" Employment Authorization Documents (EADs).
International Students and their schools must comply with strict SEVIS reporting and monitoring requirements during the period of study. Unlike Canada, International Students generally do not have a direct path to legal Permanent Resident Status in the United States, but options may exist depending on the willingness of an Employer to "petition" (sponsor) the student through an involved process with the Labor Department to have a job offer approved. If the student or his/her parents has the financial resources, an application for Permanent Resident status using the EB-5 Investor visa may be possible. For more information about the options that might best fit your circumstances, please visit our Getting Started page and register and complete our free on-line questionnaire.
